The Trail Of The Origin Of Chainsaw Art

The trail of the origin of chainsaw art goes back To Ray Murphy using his dad's chainsaw in 1952 to saw words and messages. In 1953 Ray sawed the first 3 dimensional chainsaw art on fence post. Ray has always used just a chainsaw on all of chainsaw art not caring to use carving tools. As a teenager Ray was not let in a wood carving exhibit because his work was done with a non-carving tool. In the 1960s wood carvers started using chainsaws as pre-carve tool with the end result being a wood carving all sanded down. A news reporter named this wood carving art "chainsaw carving" in 1960. Today there are some of these chainsaw carvers who don't own a chainsaw and their tools are rotary, power chisels, power sanders, grinders, etc. Real chainsaw art like in the origin is sawed with real chainsaws. It has a look all of its own as if it was done with a chainsaw, Not a sanded down wood carving. Ray Murphy is still sawing real chainsaw art like he did in the origin of Real Chainsaw Art
